Our Administrators
Laura
Practice Manager
Laura started working at our Listowel location in August 1999. Her natural warmth, compassion, and organizational skills were readily apparent, and so we seized the opportunity to have her join our team. Laura has enjoyed working in many areas of the practice over the years and now is Heartland’s Practice Manager. Laura lives on a farm with her husband Scott and their three boys Benn, Sawyer, and Maison. The furry portion of their family includes a dog and three cats. When her active boys allow her a spare moment, Laura enjoys listening to music, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Alexis
Alexis graduated from the Veterinary Office Administration Program at the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus in May 2014. She joined our team in January 2015, where she works both in administration and dairy farm data entry. Alexis has been working around her grandparent’ farm with beef cows and horses for her entire life. In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses and working on the farm. She is excited to be a part of the Heartland Team!
Angie
Angie has worked at our Listowel location since April 1991. Her position has evolved through animal care, reception, accounting, and administration. Her abilities and experience are so diverse that we have truly benefited in all areas of the hospital. Angie lives on a farm with her husband Paul and two children, Derek and Stephanie. She also has a beautiful and devoted Doberman named Star. Angie enjoys bowling, baseball, camping, and keeping busy with her family.
Julie
Julie joined our Heartland Administration Team in August 2008. Her genuine compassion for animals and her calm, friendly demeanor made her an obvious choice for our team! She grew up on a dairy farm outside of Wingham and currently resides outside of Walton on a cash crop, beef, and sheep farm with her husband Matt, their two busy boys, Connor and Brayden, and kitty, Gracie. Julie keeps busy with her family as well as finding time to play baseball and broomball.
Kailey
Hospital Administrator/Accounts Receivable
Kailey graduated from the Office Administration program at Fanshawe College in 2019 and joined the Heartland team shortly after. Kailey started in a Client Care Representative position and has since moved to the Hospital Administrator role and a back up to the Accounts Receivable position. Kailey was born and raised on a farm outside of Listowel where she developed her love and passion for animals of all kinds. She currently lives in Listowel with her family and her four-legged companions; Jaxie, Maisy, and Cooper. She loves to spend her spare time outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
Krista
Bookkeeper
Krista was born and raised in Listowel and loves the small-town atmosphere.
She graduated from the Business Administration Accounting Co-op program at Conestoga College in 2003 & started in the workforce mainly doing administration & bookkeeping.
Krista currently lives in Harriston with her husband Scott and their pet snake Lucy. Her step-daughter Mackenzie is grown & has flown the coop.
Krista tries to stay active in her spare time by playing soccer, attending the odd boot camp class, and spending time with her family & friends, but she also enjoys curling up with a good book.
Kimberly
Accounts Receivable/Administration
Kim graduated from Conestoga College with a certificate in Office Systems Administration. Previously she worked in the swine farrow to finish industry and the last 15 years worked in the Finance/Banking Industry. She joined the Heartland team in 2023.
Kim grew up in the Brussels/Millbank area and moved to Listowel last year with her partner Carlos. She has 2 full grown sons (Matt & Tyler; out on their own) and 2 teenagers (Lukas & Kylee) at home, along with her dog Stella.
In her free time Kim enjoys hiking, reading, camping, canoeing, and spending time with family and friends.
Sommer
Hospital Administrator
My name is Sommer! I was raised and currently reside in Listowel. I graduated from Fanshawe College in 2019 with a diploma in Medical Office Administration. I joined the Heartland family in July of 2022. I am very passionate about providing excellent customer service and making sure your four-legged companion gets the best care. When I am not at work I enjoy walking, hiking, baking, cooking, camping, and crafting! I am honored to be a part of the Heartland Team and look forward to meeting you and your four-legged companion!
